Just because they’re old, doesn’t mean they’re slow.

The march of progress continues on unabated, and the same holds true when it comes to the world of automotive performance. Generation after generation, the performance envelope of the car gets pushed further and further out. Today’s 1200 horsepower cars, were yesterday’s 700 horsepower cars; and tomorrow’s cars, who knows.

However, just because progress has passed a supercar by, doesn’t mean it loses it’s credibility. In fact, some of the older cars are significantly more terrifying (and therefore exhilarating ), and just as fast as the modern day equivalents.

Interestingly, as we were populating this list, it occurred to us that all the cars on the list are the ones that are typically on our minds and at the tip of our tongues even though they’ve been out of production for at least a decade. So, as a note to car makers everywhere, make a car that is ahead of the curve performance wise, make it not hideous, and we’ll all probably talk about them for decades to come.
